WoW Forever: druids can use potions without leaving Bear Form

A report published on 27 September says that in WoW Forever a druid in Bear Form can use consumables such as elixirs and potions without being taken out of the form. In Classic and in The Burning Crusade, using an elixir or a potion took a druid out of its animal form. The report came out during the Forever beta, which for now is the only place to play the game, and it does not say whether the change is final for launch. We found no statement from Blizzard about it: for now it comes from this one report, and Blizzard has not confirmed it.

The report explains why this matters most to druids who tank. A druid tanking a boss who stopped to drink a potion dropped out of Bear Form and was open to a heavy hit. According to the report, druid tanks in Forever no longer have to take that risk.

Druids get Bear Form at level 10 through a quest chain, and the report says players can check the change for themselves once they have it. It gives 2 examples. A druid in Bear Form drank a Minor Troll's Blood Elixir in the middle of a fight and got its buff, which restores 2 health every 5 seconds for 1 hour. It also means that a druid in Bear Form can now drink a Rage Potion during a fight, which the report sees as one more option for raid fights in a tight spot.

The report's headline speaks of druids in any form, but its text describes only Bear Form and names only these 2 items. It does not say whether the same is true in Cat Form or other forms, or for food, drink and bandages, and it lists nothing that still cannot be used in a form. Blizzard's latest development notes, for the 24 September beta build, do not mention the change; the only new thing there for druid forms is a pop-out menu of forms on the action bar for players using a gamepad. The beta runs until 21 October, and WoW Forever launches at 23:00 UK time on 4 November, which is midnight on 5 November in Central Europe.
