Four adventurers, a human, an orc, a tauren and a dwarf, set off together down a country road on a bright morning.

Blizzard has published its launch post for WoW Forever, and the times for Europe are now official. Players in the UK can log in from 23:00 on 4 November, and players in Central Europe from midnight on 5 November. In the Americas the doors open at 15:00 Pacific time on 4 November.

At launch the game covers the original continents with a level cap of 60. Blizzard counts more than 1,000 new quests between levels 1 and 60, 9 new five-player dungeons for levels 13 to 60, and new or reworked areas including Mount Hyjal, the hidden Shen'dralas between Mulgore and Desolace, the Riverglades and Zephras Isle, the starting zone of the new Skyborne race. The first raids, Barrow Deeps, Hyjal Summit and Onyxia's Lair, open for level 60 characters on 9 December.

On first login you choose an experience preset before anything else. Classic keeps standard-definition models and the old screen layout and switches off quest markers, the single bag view and transmog; Enhanced turns all of those on with high-definition models and a centred layout. Blizzard recommends Enhanced if you are unsure, and every setting can be changed later in the game options.

After the preset comes the ruleset: Normal, PvP, Roleplay and Roleplay PvP are open at launch, and Hardcore follows some time after. Characters can only group, join guilds, run dungeons and raid with players on the same ruleset and faction, and on PvP you are limited to one faction, so it is worth agreeing on a ruleset with your friends before launch night.

Each character has a two-part name that is unique across the region. The Legacy system allows up to 16 Legacy Points per character at launch, and PvP players get Battle for the Darkspear Islands, a 15 versus 15 battleground off the coast of Dustwallow Marsh.
