WoW Forever: Rockslicer mines ore without Mining, for 30 charges
In WoW Forever the Deadmines weapon Rockslicer lets its wielder mine Copper, Tin, Silver and Iron without Mining, for 30 charges.
Like gear across the rest of the game, Deadmines loot has new stats in WoW Forever. One item, the weapon Rockslicer, got an updated effect. Whoever wields it can mine Copper, Tin, Silver and Iron nodes without the Mining profession.
The effect has 30 charges. When they run out, you keep the weapon but lose the mining use. The in-game tooltip does not show the 30 charges to other players.
Without Rockslicer, a miner needs skill 125 to mine Iron. In theory, a player could farm several Rockslicers and mine Iron Deposits with no Mining at all.
This could be particularly attractive to players who picked both Engineering and Blacksmithing as their professions, especially early on. They could gather ore themselves instead of buying it on the Auction House. A friend or guildmate who mines could then smelt it for them.
More broadly, items like this could open up a new path for players where trade skills are concerned.
What it means for gold
For gold on EU servers, the charges are the key detail. Each Rockslicer mines only 30 times, so for most players it is not a required farm. It could suit players with both Engineering and Blacksmithing, who get ore without the Auction House, and anyone already planning to farm their own materials for use or profit. Items like this could have a distinct impact on the economy, but there are no figures yet, and we will not guess what happens to ore prices.
