WoW Forever: Horde-only beta quest gives Druid and Shaman relics

On the WoW Forever beta, a quest in the Skyborne starting area gives Horde Druids and Shamans a relic at around level 5 or 6, and Alliance characters cannot take it. The details come from a single report based on the beta, published on 23 September. As of 24 September, Blizzard has not confirmed them or said whether this is intended. According to Blizzard, the Skyborne are a new playable race in WoW Forever, and their starting zone, Zephras Isle, covers levels 1 to 12.

According to the report, the quest is called Meddlesome Mages and is offered in Shen'dar Village after the quest Welcome to Shen'dar Village. It rewards Windcharged Leaf, an idol for Druids, and Windcarved Effigy, a totem for Shamans. Both go in the relic slot, which for Druids and Shamans usually stays empty until much higher levels. The quest is not only for the Skyborne: the report gives the example of a Tauren Druid, who can run from the Tauren starting area up to the new Skywatcher Plateau, take the zeppelin from Mulgore to Zephras Isle, reach level 5 and walk to Shen'dar Village.

In the beta's item data, both relics are common items of item level 6 that bind when picked up. The Druid idol lowers the mana cost of shapeshifting spells by 40. The Shaman totem lowers the mana cost of Lightning Bolt by 5 mana, which the report puts at between 33% and 16.67% of the spell's cost on its early ranks. The report says the relics are not worth a great deal: Lightning Bolt does not cost much mana to begin with, and at levels 1 to 20 the Druid saving mostly helps when shifting in and out of forms to escape slowing effects.

Alliance characters who make the trip do not get the option, because the quest giver will not talk to them further, the report says. A player raised the same problem for Alliance Skyborne Druids on Blizzard's EU forums on 21 September: the quest giver is hostile to Alliance characters, and they found no other quest giver. They asked whether this is a bug and asked Blizzard for an Alliance equivalent. The only reply, from a volunteer forum helper rather than Blizzard staff, suggests reporting it with the in-game tool. Blizzard's page on races and classes, published on 22 September, shows that the Alliance has both classes too: Skyborne and Night Elves can be Druids, and Dwarves can be Shamans.

All of this is on the beta, which runs until 21 October 2026. Blizzard has not said whether the quest and its rewards will be the same when WoW Forever launches at 23:00 UK time on 4 November, which is midnight on 5 November in Central Europe.
