WoW Forever: scribes and a jeweller who teach nothing

Two Uncertified Scribes and an Apprentice Jeweler stand in the beta. Neither trade exists in the classic game, and neither of them will train anyone.

WoW ForeverPublished One report so far, not confirmed by Blizzard

A tauren trader stands with folded arms by a shuttered stall lit by one lantern at night.

Two characters with the title Uncertified Scribe are standing in the WoW Forever beta, one for each faction. Kurvelk Shadowhoof is in the Barrens and reacts to the Horde; Dianne Softstep is in the Redridge Mountains and reacts to the Alliance. Both are level 30, both arrived with build 1.60.1, and neither of them teaches anything: approach Kurvelk and he turns the player away as too new to be doing business with him, and tells them to come back once they know more about how things are done around here.

There is a third of the same kind. Timothy Jones carries the title Apprentice Jeweler, is level 28, belongs to the Kirin Tor and stands in the Alterac Mountains, where Dalaran sits in this version. He trains no one either.

What makes the three of them worth a second look is that neither trade is in the game they are standing in. Inscription and Jewelcrafting were both added to World of Warcraft years after the version WoW Forever is built on, and the professions a character can take today are the classic ones. A scribe who will not teach and a jeweller who will not train are therefore either flavour, or the earliest visible edge of something that is not switched on yet — in a build that has been changing professions week after week.

Blizzard has said nothing about adding either trade, and neither appears in its development notes. These are characters found standing in a beta build, which is a long way from a feature: they may open later, they may stay silent for good, or they may be gone from the next build. The beta runs until 21 October, and WoW Forever opens at 23:00 UK time on 4 November, which is midnight on 5 November in Central Europe.
