At BlizzCon on 12 September, Blizzard set out what is still to come in Midnight, the current expansion of the modern game, and gave a first look at the expansion after it. The nearest step is content update 12.1.5, which is already on the public test realm (PTR), the server where players can try changes before they go live. It brings a new story campaign, The Promise of Tomorrow, a raid with a single boss, The Unbinding of Kith'ix, an expanded Delve-like mode called Labyrinths and an outdoor event called Aqir Invasion. Ascendant Venomstones, a mid-season refresh for Season 2, let players raise the item level of a weapon, trinket or necklace that is already fully upgraded. Blizzard's posts give no release date for 12.1.5.

Blizzard also showed Talebound, a new mode against computer-controlled enemies in the style of an action RPG, which arrives with a content update Blizzard calls Echoes of the Worldcore. Players can go in alone or with friends. Talebound will launch with 4 tales, and Blizzard has shown 3 classes of its own: Slayer, Inquisitor and Witch. Between runs, players return to a village called Quillgrave to prepare for the next attempt. Blizzard says players will come away with cosmetic rewards, and it plans an early preview of Talebound on the PTR sometime in October.

Eclipse, numbered 12.2, is the final major content update for Midnight, in which players face Xal'atath, the enemy they have chased throughout the Worldsoul Saga. It adds a new zone, The Mantle Vault, a 3-boss dungeon, Thraegar's Stand, and an 8-boss raid, The Worldcore. The raid is where players get Midnight's Edge, a caster dagger that is the first legendary weapon of Midnight and of the Worldsoul Saga, though Blizzard says beating the raid is only part of what it takes to unlock it. Eclipse also lets Forsaken, night elf and troll characters become paladins, and it brings mannequins to housing for showing off gear appearances, plus a Showcase mode for visiting other players' homes. Blizzard has not given a date for Eclipse.

Season 3 starts shortly after Eclipse goes live, with the new raids, a PvP season and a new Mythic+ dungeon pool: Thraegar's Stand, updated versions of The Underrot, Iron Docks, Sanguine Depths, The Stonecore and Uldaman: Legacy of Tyr, and Magisters' Terrace and Maisara Caverns with changes. A new reward goes to players who finish the season in the top 5% of Mythic+ ratings, and from Season 3 the top 1% and top 5% rewards are decided by ranking within each specialisation rather than among all players, so a Protection Warrior is compared only with other Protection Warriors. Delves get a new Nemesis, Astalor Bloodsworn. From content update 12.2.5, transmog will work across armour types without restriction. Blizzard also announced a Wrath of the Lich King Remix, without a date.

The next expansion is The Last Titan, the final part of the Worldsoul Saga, the story that Midnight sits in the middle of. Blizzard gave a sneak peek at it, describes it as more than a return to Northrend, and says more will be revealed early in 2027. Blizzard has not given a release date for The Last Titan.
