WoW Forever: a kodo mount for the Alliance, says one report

Alliance players can get a kodo mount in WoW Forever, according to a report published on 23 September. The mount is the Pack Kodo, a reward from the Azeroth Commerce Authority, an Alliance reputation faction. Kodo mounts are usually only for Horde players. According to the report, the first kodo the Alliance could ride was the Great Brewfest Kodo, a holiday mount from the Burning Crusade era.

The Azeroth Commerce Authority is new to Forever but not to Classic. It first appeared in Season of Discovery, alongside Durotar Supply and Logistics for the Horde, and played a big role in that season's early phases. In Forever, players loot crates around the world, such as the Waylaid Crate: Apprentice Textiles, fill them and hand them in for a currency called Merchant's Favor. The report says Merchant's Favor buys crafting recipes, mounts, toys and other cosmetic items. A separate report from the BlizzCon demo placed the faction's traders at a small market where the roads from Elwynn Forest and Duskwood meet in Redridge Mountains.

The mount's data from the beta shows that it needs level 60 and Journeyman Riding, that it binds when picked up and that it is a mount for the whole account. The same data lists sellers in Redridge Mountains and in The Barrens, in Horde territory, so Horde players could have a way to buy it too; Blizzard has not said. How much Merchant's Favor the kodo will cost is not clear yet.

Testers on the official beta forum say the crates drop at random from monsters and are rare: one says they found about 3 on the way to level 20. Another says the crate they found asked for copper and gave 5 Merchant's Favor, against 50 from a quest. These are testers' figures, not Blizzard's.

For now the kodo is known from one report only, and Blizzard has not announced it. The beta runs until 21 October, and WoW Forever launches at 23:00 UK time on 4 November, which is midnight on 5 November in Central Europe. Details seen on the beta can change before launch, and Blizzard has not said whether the kodo will be part of the launch version.
