WoW Forever: paladins lead first-day Armory snapshot
A player who scanned 100,382 characters in the official Armory found paladins most popular, warlocks least, and the Horde ahead on most rulesets.

With WoW Forever came the official Armory, and players have started building their own tools on top of it. One of them, a player called Knovnovnov, looked at 100,382 characters of level 10 or higher that could be found there during the first full day after launch.
Paladin came out as the most popular class at 14.4%, and warlock as the least popular at 8.9%. On the main rulesets the Horde makes up 54.5% of players, while on the Roleplaying ruleset 57% are Alliance. Rogues lean towards PvP: 63% of rogue characters are on the PvP ruleset, while the other classes split roughly evenly between Normal and PvP.
1 character in 10 is Skyborne, and 29% of druids play that race. About 35% of characters had reached level 10 and stopped there for now. The most common surname is Forever, carried by roughly 1.5% of characters.
This is one report of one player's own count, and Blizzard has not published any figures of its kind. The data covers only the first day and is far from complete, so it is a snapshot rather than a census; an earlier add-on based estimate looked at Europe from a different angle.
