WoW Forever: auction deposit to drop back to 1 copper
Kris Zierhut confirms the 1 silver minimum deposit on the auction house is going back to 1 copper. It is coming soon, with no date yet.

The 1 silver floor on auction deposits in WoW Forever is going away. Principal game designer Kris Zierhut said in a new interview that the team talked it over and is changing the minimum deposit back to 1 copper. He gave no date, saying only that it is coming, but not yet.
The 1 silver minimum turned up right after launch. Players pay the deposit when they list an item, get it back if the item sells, and lose it if the auction is cancelled or expires, so every failed sale cost 1 silver even on a very cheap item. Early on, when money is tight, that adds up quickly.
Once the change is live, the deposit should return to the formula from WoW Classic, which follows the vendor price of the item and the length of the listing: 5% for 2 hours, 20% for 8 hours and 60% for 24 hours. Until then the 1 silver floor stays in place.
