WoW Forever: Warlocks dominate the beta's open PvP tournament

A community-run tournament for level 30 characters on the Forever beta ended with a Warlock champion, and Warlocks won 79% of their matches.

WoW ForeverPublished One report so far, not confirmed by Blizzard

During the WoW Forever beta, a former WoW video creator known as Tipsoutbaby ran the Forever Open, a PvP tournament that any tester with beta access could sign up for. Entrants had 3 weeks to prepare a level 30 character before the matches began, and a cash prize pool was on offer. The event was organised by the community, not by Blizzard.

One class stood out. Warlocks won 79% of their matches, while Mages and Warriors sat at the bottom of the table with win rates of 25% and 27%. The champion, a player called Warlockguy, played a Warlock, and the second-placed player did too.

Players also brought some less obvious tools. Trinkets such as Transformative Cocoon and Goblin Mortar were popular picks, although the mortar seemed to backfire on its owner more often than it helped.

After the final, Blizzard gave the finalists a separate area of Mount Hyjal for the occasion. The Tauren Chieftains played a set there, and Blizzard added a surprise appearance by Azuregos. The beta itself has since closed with a last weekend of world bosses and a Scourge invasion.

This comes from a single report, and Blizzard has not published any results of its own. The matches were fought at level 30 on beta builds, so class balance at launch, with higher levels and further changes, could look quite different.
