WoW Forever: the datamined mounts are not for this game
Players pulled a spectral wolf, a turtle and a rooster out of the newest build. Blizzard says the art was never meant for this version.

The newest beta build gave dataminers a pile of art: mounts, a pet and a few cosmetics that nobody expected to see in a game built on the original world. The list players passed around included a spectral wolf, a turtle and a rooster to ride, a tabard, a backpack and a murloc pet.
Blizzard answered the same day. A community manager said the assets were recently datamined in the latest beta build and that they are not intended for this version of World of Warcraft. No explanation of where they came from, and no word on which version they are meant for.
That is worth remembering the next time a build is pulled apart. Files sit in a client for all sorts of reasons, and a set of armour read out of the files is a plan only until the team says otherwise. The developers made the same point about a sword that turned up earlier in the beta.
What it does not settle is the question players were actually arguing about, which is whether cosmetics of this kind belong in Forever at all. Blizzard said only that these ones are not for it.
