WoW Forever: a mace that lets you dig up graves

A drop from the Stockade carries 20 charges and works in 2 named graveyards. What comes out of the ground the game does not say.

WoW ForeverPublished One report so far, not confirmed by Blizzard

An iron shovel standing in a mound of fresh earth beside an open grave and a blank headstone, under weak moonlight.

There is a weapon in the WoW Forever data that is not really a weapon. Graverobber's Shovel is a blue two-handed mace, item level 28, requiring level 23, and its numbers are ordinary: 68 to 102 damage at a speed of 3.70, 10 stamina, and 12 attack power that counts double against undead. The part that is not ordinary is the button on it, which digs up a grave.

It only works in 2 places, and the item names them: Raven Hill Cemetery in Duskwood and the graveyard at Scarlet Monastery. It carries 20 charges and a 2 minute cooldown between them, so a character gets 20 holes and then the shovel is spent. Nothing in the item or anywhere around it says what is in the ground.

Getting one is its own problem. The shovel drops from Dextren Ward, a level 26 elite and the last fight in the Stockade under Stormwind, and the drop chance recorded in the database is just over 1%. It is unique, so a character can hold only one at a time, and it binds when it is picked up, which rules out buying one from somebody who farmed it.

This is read from the game's own data, not from an announcement. Blizzard has not written about the shovel, has not said what digging turns up and has not said whether it stays in this form; the beta client is where it lives today, and anything in the files can still change. The beta runs until 21 October, and WoW Forever opens at 23:00 UK time on 4 November, which is midnight on 5 November in Central Europe.
