WoW Midnight: Blizzard says pay for carries directly
Blizzard has acted against accounts that bought gold for real money and had it passed on through a middleman, often to pay for a raid carry.

On the evening of 27 October Blizzard community manager Kaivax posted a warning on the World of Warcraft forums. Blizzard has recently completed a round of actions against accounts found to have spent real money on gold from a third party, which Blizzard calls RMT.
According to the post, some of those accounts did not take the gold themselves. They bought it and had the seller deliver it to another player who was providing them with a service, such as a raid carry. Kaivax wrote that gold received from such an intermediate player has an extremely high likelihood of being illicit gold from a real money sale.
The advice is simple: gold should always go directly from the player buying the carry, or any other service, to the player providing it. Players who follow that avoid actions such as account suspension and the removal of illicit gold. Guilds that sell carries were warned separately: if they are paid with gold that arrives through an intermediate, Blizzard may remove that gold from them.
The post does not say how many accounts were affected, when the actions took place, or whether anything beyond suspension and gold removal was involved. It also does not name a game version. In September Kaivax said that Blizzard would act against gold buyers as well as sellers in WoW Forever, and this post describes such actions already taken.
