WoW Midnight: players say Grimtide breaks shop decor rule
Players argue the new Grimtide housing bundles lean on Kul Tiran themes, which Blizzard said it would keep out of the Hearthsteel shop.

The 2 Grimtide housing bundles that went on sale in the Battle.net Shop on 27 October have drawn criticism from players within a day. Many feel the bundles break the principles Blizzard set out for housing items sold for real money.
Those principles come from Blizzard's own developer article on Hearthsteel and housing in Midnight, published in November 2025. In it Blizzard said that housing items tied to the core fantasies of a player race or class, or items that already exist in Azeroth, would not be sold in the shop, and that thematically important decor players know and love would not appear there either.
Players say the Grimtide set does exactly that. Its sea-worn manor wrapped in tentacles, its anchors and its nautical decor read to them as the style of Kul Tiras, the home of the Kul Tiran allied race, and some compare the house to the haunted manors of Drustvar. Blizzard itself describes the estate as a home weathered by the sea that carries the mysteries of the ocean ashore.
At the time of writing Blizzard has not responded to the criticism and has not said whether it sees the bundles as a break from its own rules. The Haunted Grimtide Estate costs 2,500 Hearthsteel and the Grimtide Decor Pack 1,000 Hearthsteel, and both remain on sale.
