WoW Forever: Russian client cannot reach EU rulesets yet
Blizzard confirms the Russian client cannot reach the European rulesets during name reservation, and Cyrillic names fail on every client for now.

Players reserving names for WoW Forever with the game client set to Russian cannot reach the European rulesets. Blizzard confirmed the problem on its European forums on 28 October, the day after name reservation opened in Europe, and said it is looking into it. The first report came on 27 October: with the client in Russian the rulesets would not connect, while the same account worked in English and German.
A Blizzard community manager also cleared up the question many players raised. The Russian client is officially supported for WoW Forever, as the shop page says, so this is a bug and not a restriction on Russian speakers playing in Europe.
For now Blizzard suggests switching the client to another language, such as English or French, in the Battle.net app settings and reserving the name from there. That workaround has a catch: it does not help with Cyrillic names. A name written in Cyrillic still fails on the English client, and Blizzard says those players will have to wait for the developers to fix it.
Blizzard has not said when the fix will land or whether it will arrive before launch at 23:00 London time on 4 November. It is a separate problem from the overly strict name filter that blocked ordinary names this week. If you are still picking a home, the European realms and their rulesets are listed on our Forever page.
