WoW Midnight: extra weekly bonus roll from 7 October

Blizzard has set out when the rest of Season 2's extra power opens up in Midnight. During realm maintenance in the week of 7 October, Orin Straylight in Silvermoon City will start offering 1 additional Nebulous Voidcore a week to bonus roll for extra loot. Ascendant Venomstones follow during maintenance in the week of 21 October. Blizzard gives some of these dates as 6 and 20 October, which are the American ones: weekly maintenance falls on Tuesday in the Americas and on Wednesday in Europe, so the European dates are a day later.

Blizzard describes the Nebulous Voidcore as something players spend to bonus roll for additional loot — an extra chance at a drop, on top of what a boss already gives. The post does not explain the system beyond that. To be ready for the extra one each week, Blizzard says to accept the quest “In the Catalyst's Shadow” from Decimus in Voidstorm, then pick up “Prismatic Potential” from Orin Straylight in Silvermoon City, and it encourages players to finish both before weekly maintenance in the week of 6 October.

Once “Prismatic Potential” is handed in, Orin begins his research and a progress timer appears above his head. When the research is done he offers “Umbral Blessings of the Catalyst”, and completing that quest lets players trade gold, Voidlight Marl or Veteran Mistcrests to him for the 1 extra Nebulous Voidcore a week. With the weekly maintenance that brings the 12.1.5 content update on 14 October, Orin offers “Ancient Depths, Ancient Venom”, which starts his research on Ascendant Venomstones; a week later he offers “Ascending with Venomstones”.

Ascendant Venomstones drop from every Heroic or Mythic raid boss, from Mythic+ Keystone dungeons at +10 and above, from Tier 11 Bountiful Delves and from Nightmare Prey Hunt Champion gear chests. Blizzard says 10 of them, used near the Catalyst in Silvermoon City, raise the item level of a fully upgraded Season 2 Hero, Myth or maximum-quality Tidal Crafted weapon, trinket or necklace. The crest cap is lifted in the same week as the Venomstones, 21 October.
