WoW Forever: the Dalaran dungeon opens for testing

The build that landed with the evening downtime adds the City of Dalaran, hands every tester 16 Legacy Points and finishes the cooldown panel.

A broken street of pale stone at night with violet light rising out of a long crack in the paving.

Blizzard updated the beta development notes on the night of 8 October, after the realms came back from their 6 hour stop, and the headline in them is a place to go: the City of Dalaran dungeon is now available for testing. It is the first new dungeon the beta has opened since it started in September, and it arrives with 13 days of testing left.

The Legacy system got a shortcut built for testers rather than for players. Every account on the beta has been granted completion of the Legacy Challenge along with 16 Legacy Points, so nobody has to earn them before trying what they buy. Blizzard also changed what a talent re-spec costs when it is paid for with those points: the lowest it can fall to is now 1 silver, and the price steps down by one an hour. The note is as terse as that and does not explain the schedule further.

Two interface pieces moved as well. The Cooldown Manager now covers every class, every racial ability and trinkets, which closes the gap that was left when it first appeared. On gamepads, the input indicator now shows whether a button is held or pressed, the map opens with the quest log in focus, Edit Mode layouts are saved and loaded per interface type, and the gamepad action bar can be edited like the rest.

The rest of the list is repair work. Druids can use mana potions while shape-shifted again and now get full rage from a critical strike; Thorns was rebalanced for druids and cut by about a third for paladins, whose Retribution Aura was miscalculating; protection paladins had their threat from Reckoning and Shield Specialization adjusted. Outside the classes, the rarity of dungeon quest rewards came down again and Discoloured Healing Potions stopped breaking crowd control. The same build carries the 20% rise in dungeon experience Blizzard announced in its podcast.

The beta runs until 21 October, and WoW Forever opens at 23:00 UK time on 4 November, which is midnight on 5 November in Central Europe.
