WoW Forever: joining a group now needs a manual phase refresh
Joining a party in WoW Forever no longer moves you to your friends straight away. You have to confirm the move yourself from a prompt in chat.

If you join a party in WoW Forever and cannot see your friends, the group is probably fine. Blizzard changed this after the beta: joining a group no longer moves you to the same layer as the other members automatically, and you have to trigger the move yourself.
The prompt appears by the chat window. Blizzard community manager Kaivax described it on the forums on 5 November as a blue message after you accept the invite. Clicking it opens a pop-up with a Refresh Now button, which should put you together with the rest of the party.
Kaivax raised this in a thread from a player who had to log out and back in each time to see a levelling partner, and asked whether the button solved it. The prompt shows up even when you are standing in a town and doing nothing, so it is easy to miss.
The manual step means a group invite does not pull you out of your current layer in the middle of something out in the world. Other problems with how full some areas feel are being handled separately.
