WoW Forever: longer inspect range and a Talents button
Inspecting other players in WoW Forever works from further away and shows their talents, one report says. Blizzard has not confirmed it.
Inspecting other players gets 2 quality-of-life changes in WoW Forever, according to a report published on 25 September: the inspect window works from further away and stays open, and it can show the other player's talents. Players across World of Warcraft use inspect to look at each other's gear and talents. The report came out while the Forever beta is running, but it does not say whether it describes the beta or the game as it will be at launch.
According to the report, the inspect range in Classic was very short, so you had to stand almost next to a player to inspect them, and the window closed by itself as soon as they moved out of range. In Forever, the report says, the range is longer and the window no longer closes when the other player moves away. The report does not say how far the new range reaches.
The second change is about talents. In Classic you cannot see another player's talents by default, and players used addons for that, the report says. In Forever, the inspect window has a Talents button that shows the talents the other player has chosen. The talent trees themselves are changing too: in its recap of the Deep Dive panel on 13 September, Blizzard said they keep the familiar Classic structure and number of rows, while some talents are adjusted or improved.
Inspecting is not the only new way to see what another player can do. A separate report on the same day says players in Forever can link their whole profession book in chat, so others can see their skill in the profession and which recipes they know. Blizzard has not confirmed that either.
The inspect changes are known from this one report only, and Blizzard has not confirmed them: as of 25 September we found no Blizzard post about inspecting, and neither the 13 September recap nor Blizzard's beta development notes, updated on 24 September, mention it. The beta runs until 21 October, and WoW Forever launches at 23:00 UK time on 4 November, which is midnight on 5 November in Central Europe.
