WoW: Liquid and Echo talk of fewer splits in the next race

Liquid's Max says the 2 guilds are discussing cutting split raids and alts, but that raid hours are where the talks stick.

WoW MidnightPublished One report so far, not confirmed by Blizzard

A dwarf raid leader in dented plate raises a hand in a dark stone antechamber by torchlight.

The 2 guilds that have traded the world first kill between them for years are talking about running the next race with fewer characters. Liquid's Max said on stream that Liquid and Echo have been discussing cutting back on splits, and he listed what is on the table: helper splits, raiders borrowed from inside the guild, mythic dungeons run while away from the keyboard, and splits on mythic difficulty. He said both sides seem willing to move on those.

Splits are the part of the race that outsiders find hardest to watch. A top guild goes into a tier with around 15 characters each and runs the same raid over and over on lower difficulties to funnel gear onto the main roster. This tier it took Liquid 5 and a half days before they set foot in mythic Venomous Abyss, and the last few tiers have seen splits run on mythic too.

Raid hours are the sticking point. Max says Echo wants the 2 guilds raiding closer to the same clock and has asked Liquid to start at 1:00 PM PST, 3 hours later than they normally would, and finish at 3:00 AM; on Tuesdays Liquid would start at 9:00 PM, 9 hours later than usual, and play for only 6 hours. He points out how that lands on a patch day: new content goes live and his guild sits on its hands for hours.

Nothing is agreed, and neither guild has published anything. This is one report of what one of the 2 sides said on a stream, and it describes talks rather than a rule. The next tier has not been dated.
