WoW Forever: Ghost Wolf glare is a stopgap, says designer
The shaman form went bright blue in the latest beta build because it was invisible in dark zones; a hotfix will tone it down.

The shaman Ghost Wolf form on the WoW Forever beta turned a far brighter blue in the build installed this week, and players have been calling it a flashbang. Senior game designer Aidan Moon says that is deliberate but temporary. "Ghost Wolf's current appearance is a temporary fix for areas where lighting made it invisible," he wrote, adding that Blizzard will "reduce its brightness in a hotfix, then restore its original appearance once a broader visibility fix is ready."
The problem the brightness is covering is the opposite one: in low-light zones the old model all but disappeared, which matters for a form shamans travel in constantly. Rather than leave players unable to see their own character, Blizzard turned the glow up while it works on a fix to how the model is lit.
So there are 2 changes still to come, in order: a hotfix that takes the glare down, and a later visibility fix that lets the original look return. Moon did not give a date for either, and the images shown alongside his post were of the form before the temporary fix went in.
The beta runs until 21 October, and visual work of this kind usually lands in a build rather than between them. WoW Forever launches at 23:00 UK time on 4 November, which is midnight on 5 November in Central Europe.
