WoW Midnight: Blizzard plans shorter Uldaman, rebuilt Stonecore
Blizzard has previewed changes to the Midnight Season 3 Mythic+ dungeons: a shorter Uldaman, a rebuilt Stonecore and new routes elsewhere. Plans may change.

On 16 September Blizzard published an early look at how it plans to change the dungeons returning in Midnight Season 3. Mythic+ is the timed dungeon mode in which each keystone level makes a dungeon harder, and each season uses its own set of dungeons, known as the pool. Blizzard announced the Season 3 pool at BlizzCon 2026: Thraegar's Stand, a new 3-boss dungeon that comes with Eclipse, Midnight's final major content update; Magisters' Terrace and Maisara Caverns from Midnight itself; and The Underrot, Iron Docks, Sanguine Depths, The Stonecore and Uldaman: Legacy of Tyr from earlier expansions. Blizzard says Season 3 starts shortly after Eclipse goes live.
Blizzard says it has been reviewing player feedback alongside its own goals for each dungeon, to fix problems from earlier seasons such as dungeon pacing and abilities that were too difficult or unclear. Across the pool it will also review enemies other than bosses and give ability effects a fresh look. For Uldaman: Legacy of Tyr, Blizzard's main goal after feedback about its length is a shorter run: the dungeon goes from 5 bosses to 4 on Heroic, Mythic and Mythic+, with the Lost Dwarves fight switched off. In the Emberon fight, Purging Flames will trigger at set health levels instead of on a repeating energy cycle, which Blizzard says will stop extra cycles from dragging the fight out at higher keystone levels. The Stonecore, a dungeon from Cataclysm, is getting a full revamp, with new designs for every enemy and boss and new models for many familiar creatures; players will still chase Millhouse Manastorm and face Ozruk.
Iron Docks is due for what Blizzard calls a substantial refresh: Blizzard plans to update all 4 boss fights with modern abilities and is looking at how many enemies in the opening section stand still and attack from range. Blizzard wants to keep the Iron Stars, which players send rolling into enemies, but is exploring a design that makes runs depend on them less while keeping them powerful. In Sanguine Depths it is looking to cut the number of spellcaster packs and of abilities that use cast bars, and to merge Dark Acolytes and Wicked Oppressors into a single enemy type that players meet less often. In The Underrot it is looking to give players new routes through the final section, to make the Elder Leaxa fight rely less on interrupting spells and to have players use more of the room in the Cragmaw fight; it will also look at the number of spellcasters in that room.
Blizzard says the 2 Midnight dungeons will keep their core experience, with changes focused on new routes and strategies. In Maisara Caverns it is exploring moving the captives and buffs in the opening section to open new paths, and is revising the Muro'jin and Nekraxx fight so its core mechanic is clearer. In Magisters' Terrace it is re-examining the library event to offer new paths and new books to find, and is also looking to update the Degentrius fight. Blizzard will review enemies in both dungeons, such as the Bound Defenders in Maisara Caverns and the Devouring Tyrant in Magisters' Terrace, and is looking for chances to replace some enemies with entirely new creatures.
Blizzard stresses that these plans are only a starting point and may change as development and testing continue, and says it will share more details closer to the public test realm (PTR) for the update. Neither the preview nor Blizzard's recap of the BlizzCon panel gives a date for Eclipse or for Season 3. Season 3 also adds a new Mythic+ reward for the top 5% of players, and from this season the top 1% and top 5% rewards go by a player's ranking within their specialisation rather than among all Mythic+ players. In Blizzard's forum thread on the preview, one player plans to farm the Vitreous Stone Drake mount in The Stonecore before the revamp, just in case; another expects it to keep dropping. Blizzard has said nothing about the mount.
