WoW Forever: 2 new pets in Stormwind and Undercity

Players testing WoW Forever have found 2 companion pets in 2 of the game's best-known cities, according to a report published on 30 September. One is in Stormwind, the other in Undercity, and both are said to be obtainable in the beta itself rather than only read out of the game files. Blizzard has not announced either pet: for now they come from this one report, and anything found on the beta can still change before launch.

In Stormwind, Alliance players found that Sewer Beast, a monster that patrols the Stormwind Canals, drops a pet called Baby Crocolisk. On the beta Sewer Beast is an elite at level 50, far above the level testers can reach, but the report says massive raid groups have defeated it anyway. In the game's own database the item is a companion item that teaches you to summon the pet; it binds when picked up, so it stays with the character that loots it.

The second pet, an Excitable Slime, is in Undercity and needs no raid group, but it takes more working out. The steps in the report: buy a Nutritious Slime Sludge from Boyle in Undercity, at about 56.2, 64.6 on the map; jump into the canal and find an Excitable Slime patrolling there; then use the /dance emote at it over and over until it answers with an emote. That takes several tries. It then offers a quest called WRIGGLE, which is finished by trading it the Nutritious Slime Sludge, and the reward is an Excitable Slime of your own. A /dance at the pet afterwards makes it dance again.

Nothing about either pet has come from Blizzard, and both come from this one report on the beta, so the drop, the vendor and the dance steps may all be different at launch. Earlier in the beta a pet called Spawn of Grubthor was read out of the game files with no known source; with these 2 it is the other way round, found by players in game but named in no patch notes. The beta runs until 21 October, and WoW Forever launches at 23:00 UK time on 4 November, which is midnight on 5 November in Central Europe.
