WoW Midnight: melee hits no longer fake double damage
The health bar bug that showed every melee swing at roughly double its real size is gone after the 12.1.5 content update.

The phantom damage bug is gone. Until the 12.1.5 content update, every melee swing an enemy landed showed up on your health bar at about double its real size for a split second, then snapped back to the correct value. A hit of 100,000 would flash as 200,000 before the bar corrected itself.
The bug was traced earlier this month, after the fake damage in Murder Row had already been fixed. It never killed anyone, because the phantom part was not real damage, but it caused plenty of panic: the bar plunged, the low-health warning fired and players reacted to danger that was not there.
Repeating the same test after the update shows no extra drop and no rebound, either on the player's own health bar or on raid frames. The bug had been in the game since The War Within, and some reports place it as far back as Dragonflight.
This comes from a single report so far, and Blizzard has not confirmed the fix separately. If it holds, health bars should once again show the real size of every hit.
