WoW Midnight: 12.1.5 adds a button to skip a chat
A campaign quest on the test realm now puts a skip control on screen while characters talk, and hands the quest in when you use it.

One of the main campaign quests on the Patch 12.1.5 test realm has you stand and listen while characters talk. Starting the conversation completes the objective, but you cannot hand the quest in while it runs, because the character you need to speak to is part of it. A new control now appears on the right of the screen that skips the conversation and lets you finish the quest there and then.
Blizzard has tried several ways of letting people out of scenes like this. Some let you simply fly away. Some made the conversation opt-in, by having you talk to a character afterwards if you wanted to hear it. Some put a separate line in the dialogue that completed the objective and skipped the scene entirely.
The difference is which way round the choice sits. Those earlier methods were opt-in or tucked away, and a player who did not know the option was there could walk past a story moment without meaning to. The new control is opt-out: it tells everyone that something is happening and still lets them leave.
This comes from the test realm, so it can change or disappear before the patch ships. 12.1.5 goes live on 13 October in the Americas and on 14 October in Europe.
